What is DEPRESSION, and how to handle it?

Today, I would like to share about depression. Recently we hear a very famous kpop idol commit suicide because of depression. (Stress and depression is mental sickness which can't be ignore by people). Thus, I gonna share some information that I collected from the event I went.  The talk  was given in Malay by Mr. Suhaimi bin Sulaiman (PPD’s counselor). 

So, the talk title is “Positif minda segar emosi mantap peribadi” which in English: “Positive mind, fresh emotion, steady personality”.

What is stress?


1.  Stress is one of the thing that everyone has in the life. Stress can be negative or positive depends on how the people handling the stress. If we construct the stress to be positive, we can make the stress as the motivation for us to keep on moving and success. While if we direct our mind to the negative way, that stress is bad, it can give impact to the anxiety and depress, thus can lead to self-destruction and worst, suicide.

2.  Stress is number 4 as the most serious disease in the world (WHO). While in Malaysia, average of 7 cases of suicide cause by the stress which contribute to 2,000 deaths in 100,000 population of people. Which women is more likely to get anxiety and depression in the ratio of 2:1.

3. In the video showing the difference of man and women when celebrating the Eid show that women are more complex in managing task and care more about what others say while man are simpler and doesn’t really care about others.


4. The impact from stress:
Physical
Emotion
Dizziness
Anxiety
Dry mouth
Depression
Difficulty in breathing
Aggressive


How to handle STRESS?


1.  Try the “Kungfu vocal” which show the relation of the voice and the movement of the body to release the stress.

2. You also can try the “washing clothes exercise” which show even the simple movement can create positive impact to our life.

3.  Exercise can release bad hormone that cause stress which also known as ‘cartisol’.

4.  Other therapy than exercise is online surfing (Youtube searching interesting video).

5.   For muslim, remember this:
     S – solat jangan tinggal
– tawakal hanya kepada Allah
– rohani diri diperkuatkan lagi
E – emosi perlu dikawal dan dijaga
– selalu berzikir kepada Allah
– senyum selalu agar stress berlalu.


Hope this posting can help a little bit people out there who having depression. Last but not least, LEARN FROM MISTAKES (LEARN, NOT JUDGE)
